Hello and welcome to my blog, here I will be posting some new poems plus a number of old ones that I've had published over the years. I hope you enjoy them
This was published in 2002 in a book called The Language of Love She watched the end of love Abrupt as a storm in summer Loneliness of silence poisoned the air Like fog in the chill of winter. Memories taunted her tormented heart Waiting words he'd never known Kept concealed like snow in clouds Now she pined with her thoughts alone. Allowing shadows to creep Where once was colour and light Leaving herself the wishful green Of a cold and envious sight Truth entered and built itself A self-piteous altar of pain Where dreams as wishes that will not be Paint his face in her life once again Lives entwining suffocating themselves Fading with every heart beat Burning inside like molten rivers Freezing in the ice of grief copyright carol ann lewis 2019
Think Before You Speak I sat here today Enclosed in darkness Though the sun shone through my window I couldn't feel a thing. Isolated by inertia The black dog snarls before me His deafening barking blocks my path To the outside world. I have been drowned by angry words Sorrow ties its millstone I sink unable to scream Or even utter a word. Hatred caused this misery While jealousy took its hand Vicious words were born on walls Invisible to the hands. Welcome to my blackened world Where silently I hide From wounding words that burn - think before you speak next time. copyright carol ann lewis 2019

Then he played the game so cleverly Love and affection right on cue A performance that made the audience gasp Oh my dear, what a man, lucky you. And in return she loved him back With her mind, body and soul But all games they come to an end That's when he dealt his cruel blow. He promised her a wedding ring The one thing she wanted most Then he laughed and vanished from her life Disappeared just like a ghost. Though she reasoned and she bargained Her words fell upon deaf ears And in her heartbreak and her sorrow She cried him a million tears. He watched her from a distance And revelled in her pain Ignored her and got ready To play the game again. However he'd picked the wrong victim It took time but she got well...
