World Mental Health Day - a poem
Think Before You Speak
I sat here today
Enclosed in darkness
Though the sun shone through my window
I couldn't feel a thing.
Isolated by inertia
The black dog snarls before me
His deafening barking blocks my path
To the outside world.
I have been drowned by angry words
Sorrow ties its millstone
I sink unable to scream
Or even utter a word.
Hatred caused this misery
While jealousy took its hand
Vicious words were born on walls
Invisible to the hands.
Welcome to my blackened world
Where silently I hide
From wounding words that burn - think
before you speak next time.
